Project #3

This piece started as a simple sketch, where I began by just wanting to practice poses. However, as the piece further developed, I decided that I wanted to develop it into one of my projects. Despite everything, women all get dressed up and ready in the morning.

I rendered the piece and tried to stick to a more semi-realism style. I was trying to include some color and background to the piece while staying primarily to a color palette. I struggled a bit with the color pallette and with the reflection in this stage of the piece, but it was a great learning process as I moved forward.

Here, I rendered the piece and added a glow dodge layer ontop to add brighter lighting. I also added a multiply layer and a paper texture ontop to add a more comforting feeling to the piece.

The final piece was 3050px by 2560px. This piece relates to my inquiry question by showing the occasional good feeling that all women share. A shared experience between most women is getting ready in the morning and getting dressed. In my experience, I find it to be quite comforting, and I know my friends do as well. It is an occasional nicer feeling that capitalism can provide women, where women can buy a comfortable, nice bra to put on in the morning. I used brighter, warmer colors to portray the warm and comforting feeling present in the piece.

The reason I decided to go digital with this piece is that I wanted to do intense lighting and a specific color palette, which I could best portray on a digital medium. I also wanted to practice mirror reflections and anatomical shading. I feel like I did struggle with the mirror portion of the piece, but in the end, I was able to pull the piece together.
